The Cobra CPI 480 is a 12 volt DC to 120 volt AC power inverter with 400 watts continuous power handling and 800 Watts peak power. This unit contains a 5 volt USB output, modified sine wave, thermal shutdown, reverse polarity protection, low voltage shutdown, low voltage alarm, external fuse, 2 grounded AC receptacles, and includes cigarette lighter plug, and direct- to battery cables.

Seems like great inverter, if a bit large. However, I purchased it specifically to charge iPods via the powered USB output, which doesn't work at all. Some interaction between mac products and this device.

Got this to charge my bluetooth headset and power my laptop on long trips. It works great. The only beef I have with it is the fan is a little noisy when it turns on. Otherwise I would highly suggest this device.

My second one and still use both for different applications. Connected to my solar panel through a charge controller, this inverter powers almost any thing I need. this design is simple and very easy to use. My next project will include a larger Cobra as well.

Bought two units for two separate business vehicles because of the price and the positive reviews here. You get what you pay for. They worked for a couple of weeks and then failed. The fist unit to go out was improperly grounded due to a sloppy solder job. We corrected the issue and put it back in the first vehicle. After a few more days it ulitmately stopped providing power through its outlets even though the little green power light was still glowing brightly. The second unit just stopped working though we found no obvious cause. Now both are in the trash.
I haven't tried to get the units fixed through Cobra's warrany centers yet but what's the point? We're looking for better quality units. I don't have time to deal with junk like this.

This product has all that I was looking for in a inverter. It's cheep, and works well with little noise. I have been using it for a month, and would highly recommend it thus far.
